SNACK AND SHARING DAY

HOW-TO-SNACK

Each child has snack & sharing once a month and is designed to as way to link school to home. Children like to eat during the day and so in addition to providing nutrition and fuel for the body we encourage engaging the whole body and eating mindfully.  These ideas linked together provide new opportunities to try different foods, share their favorite cuisine from home and socialize with friends.

  • Snack Days can be found at the Snack Calendar here on the website and in the Mini Messenger that is emailed each weekend.

  • Snack includes one serving of protein and one serving of carbohydrate and enough for 40 students.

  • The purpose of providing snack for children involves the continued work on our unit or theme at home, to think about the foods your child likes and what they want to share for snack that relates to the study.

  • Create a theme related, hands-on and nutritional snack that your child is excited about sharing.

  • At home and with your child talk about the theme of study and discuss food centered around this theme.

  • Select a food, recipe or idea together.

  • Shop together.

  • Please deliver foods in their original package and unopened boxes or bags (due to COVID).

  • Label all containers or snack items with your child's name.

  • Deliver snack to the front door the morning of your child's snack day.

They will bring the book home that afternoon at pick-up.
